Juwan Staten’s Diary #2 – Heating Up

By Juwan Staten
Throughout the 2009-2010 season, OakHillHoops.com will feature personal stories from our players.

Heating Up

JuwanOctober 1, 2009 — So far school has been kind of easy.  The work load has been hard, but basketball season hasn’t officially started, so we haven’t been overwhelmed with anything.

This weekend will be the first time in about four weeks that I have been home.  I’m taking my official visit to the University of Dayton, which is about seven minutes from my house, so I consider myself lucky!  I can’t wait to see my family and friends, and having a home cooked meal won’t be bad either.

Monday is the first day of official practice and our first scrimmage isn’t long after that.  Before we know it, the season will be here, and we’ll be traveling a lot.  “Things are about to start heating up,” as Coach Smith put it.  I’m looking forward to it – should be fun.

  1. Juwan grew? That’s Roscoe’s photo… anyhow, the team looks great, I am 100% sure that the new offense will enhance the potential of the team if they share the ball, run-run-run, and make the right decisions… and, play defense…

Enjoy the season and Go WARRIORS!

  2. Juwan,
In a week be ready to get your game in full gear! Enjoy your time back in Dayton. You are blessed to be able to go to a great school with your family so close. UD is soaring to new levels under coach Gregory and the talent he has assembled. Best of luck!

  3. Okay, now I see Juwan!

  4. As an alumni UD in the Washington DC area, Juwan, you are going to be blown away when you start your career with the University of Dayton Flyers. You are going to be blown away by the amount of fans they not only have at the UD arena, but away from the Arena as well. Don’t be surprised if you some of your away games feel like home games. Good luck to you Juwan in your final year at Oak Hill, and best of luck to your future career at UD!
    Go Flyers.
