Juwan Staten’s Diary #4 – First Game

By Juwan Staten

Throughout the 2009-2010 season, OakHillHoops.com will feature personal stories from our players.

Surprisingly Good

JuwanNovember 4, 2009 — Saturday (10/31) we opened our season at home against Central Carolina Academy. With most of the students gone because of Open Weekend, we still drew a pretty nice crowd.

From jump-ball on, we owned the game. We shot well from the floor and played fairly solid defense. Roscoe led all scorers with 24, Doron had 22, and I had 15. Baye had 8 blocks and 9 rebounds.

All the players and our coaches thought we played well for a first game. The final score was 100-55. Our next game is Thursday – first road game – at Winston-Salem Prep. Should be interesting!

  1. Keep doing your thing. A lot of people were upset you left Marshall. When opportunity knocks you must answer. Not many kids have the opportunity to follow their dreams. As you know, coming from Dayton some would rather trade that for fast money. So Good Luck and hope to see with the Flyers if not thats cool just go to somebody school and Rep DAYTON.

  2. Good to hear that things are going well for you. I know that you have put in alot of work and it seems to be paying off. Keep representing Dayton. I hope that you will come back here to take up the slack when Chris Wright leaves. We need the kind of game that you have at UD. Today is National Signing Day. Do what your heart tells you to do. What ever you decide dayton will be behind you. Good Luck with everything that you do.
