Warrriors Top South Atlanta on Tiny’s Three-Point Barrage

Oak Hill got a surprise six three-pointers from center Keith “Tiny” Gallon to stay unbeaten, defeating nationally-ranked South Atlanta 65-58 in the Spalding Hoophall Classic at Springfield College, Massachusetts.

Oak Hill (21-0) and No. 4 in the USA TODAY Super 25 rankings, used its depth and Gallon’s 22 points, including several shots by him beyond NBA three-point range, to overcome South Atlanta (14-3) and Georgia Tech-bound power forward Derrick Favors, who had 25 points and 17 rebounds, USA Today reported.

Warriors Take Iolani Classic in 2OT Thriller Over Montrose Christian

Tourney MVP Lamont “MoMo” Jones poured in 40 points, including eight in the final period, as the Warriors rallied for an amazing 74-62 double-overtime win over Montrose Christian (Md.) Monday in the final of the ‘Iolani Classic before a sellout crowd. It is the Warriors’ fifth ‘Iolani Classic crown.

After scoring 29 points in just over a half of play, Jones was completely shut down for a 14-minute stretch with Montrose Christian freshman Justin Anderson hounding him every inch of the floor. That allowed Oak Hill to rally from an eight-point deficit in the final quarter.

Warriors Head to Iolani Championship, Face Montrose Christian

Tiny Gallon had 17 points and Lamont Jones added 15 as the Warriors held on to defeat the LeFlore (Alabama) Rattlers (USA Today #13) 68-66 to earn a trip to the Iolani Classic’s championship game on Monday in Honolulu.

The team will take on a familiar foe Monday for the crown in Montrose Christian, MD, ranked #7 in USA Today. Montrose defeated Fairfax (California) 45-38 to earn the matchup.

Warriors Win First Two in Iolani Classic

The Warriors took their first two games in the Iolani Classic in Honolulu.

Thursday’s night matchup against Mid-Pacific (Hawaii) had the Warriors coming away with the victory 74-44. On Friday night, the Warriors topped the host school, Iolani, 80-44.

The team moves to Monday’s championship game if they defeat LeFlore (Alabama — USA Today #13) on Saturday. They’d play the winner of the Fairfax (Los Angeles – #9 USA Today) or Montrose Christian (Maryland – #7 USA Today) game for the title. If they lose, the will play for 3rd place.

Warriors Top #16 Chicago Whitney Young, Move to 14-0

The Warriors moved to 14-0 on the season after topping USA Today 16th-ranked Chicago Whitney Young 65-57 (Box Score) in the Converse/Eastbay Classic at the Al McGuire Center in Milwaukee Saturday night.

The Warriors led Young (ranked second in the Chicago area) by 21 points before emptying the bench in the fourth quarter. Tiny Gallon and Glenn Bryant combined for 22 points and 18 rebounds. Read More at ChicagoTribune.com

Earlier in the week, Oak Hill defeated Northern Guilford HS of Greensboro (NC) 78-67 (Box Score). MoMo Jones and Doron Lamb scored 18 each, Glenn Bryant (12 rebounds) and Bryon Allen chimed in with 16 apiece.

Warriors Top #2 Duncanville, Chicago Simeon in Hoops Fest

Tiny Gallon left the game early in the first quarter with a knee injury and did not return. His status is still being determined. Junior Baye Moussa Keita stepped in and did a great job rebounding, altering and blocking shots. The Warriors ended Duncanville’s long winning streak last season.

On Saturday, the Warriors overcame a turnover plagued game by both teams to defeat Chicago Simeon High, ranked regionally in the Midwest by USA Today, 58-52 (Box Score). Solid defense and made free throws sealed the victory.

Warriors Start December with 10 Wins Under Belt

The Warriors start the month of December with 10 wins under their belt, having won the last two games before the Thanksgiving Holiday. The competition heats up in December, with several tournaments including the Iolani Prep Classic in Hawaii and a matchup with Chicago Whitney Young.

Several Warrior games will be televised online this month by Wazoo Sports, including the Marshall County Hoops Fest and the game vs. Ridgeview. The Warriors open the season ranked #12 nationally by USA Today. The team will be tested throughout the season. Following the Whitney Young matchup (USA Today #17), the Warriors have a rematch later this season with Duncanville High (Texas).

Three More Wins Move Warriors to 5-0

The Warriors continue their early season drive with threemore victories, moving to 5-0.

An election night win against Queen City Prep (North Carolina) 75-63 was a sloppy one, with the team committing 21 turnovers.

MoMo Jones and Tiny Gallon led the Warriors with 20-points each.

The team came out much stronger Friday night, a game against the Patterson School, a scheduling adjustment. The Warriors won the game by a resounding 116-84 score, with six players in double figures and nine assists by MoMo Jones.

2008-2009 Warrior Season Outlook

This year’s team has high expectations with five of the top eight players on last year’s roster returning. The Warriors hope to build on a team that started two sophomores and two juniors last season.

Returnees include: Bryon Allen, Glenn Bryant, Chasen Campbell, Tiny Gallon, and Pe’shon Howard. Senior guards, Austin Alecxih, Jordan Gallagher, Lamont “Mo Mo” Jones, and Kevin Kegarise make Oak Hill’s backcourt the deepest in memory, and center Chris Brown provides depth on the frontcourt.

With the addition of juniors Baye Moussa Keita, Doron Lamb, and Marco Porcher, the Warriors look ready to tackle the nation’s toughest schedule once again. Meet this year’s team here. Full player profiles are coming shortly.
