The team will spend their Spring Break in March traveling to three Chinese provinces:  Guangdong, Fujian, and Jiangxi.  Joining the Warriors on this tour will be teams from Australia, Lithuania and China.

The Warriors are thrilled to have such an amazing opportunity and are looking forward to their experience abroad.  Coach Steve Smith said, “It is an honor for our school and our team to be chosen to represent the USA.  Over the course of our 2011-12 season, we have played some of the best teams in our country.  Competing against some of greatest talent on a global scale will be an invaluable experience for our young athletes and great way to cap a successful season.”

This will be the fourth time an Oak Hill Academy basketball team has had the privilege of representing the United States on a global scale – 1986 (Virgin Islands), 1997 (Amsterdam).  Most recently, in 2004, the Warriors traveled to Barcelona, led by now NBA standouts Rajon Rondo and Josh Smith.  The 2004 Warriors went on to finish their season undefeated and won Oak Hill Academy’s seventh National Championship.

Oak Hill is currently 36-0 and ranked #1 in both the ESPN Rise and USA Today national polls.

One Goal

So far we are 28-0. We have been playing really well. Our team has so many weapons. In my opinion, no one has a better back court in the country. We have started the same three guards every game. With Jordan Adams and D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera on the wings, everything comes much more easily for me at the point. Having them on either side of the court helps me to be better.

D’Vauntes is our leading scorer and makes buckets in a variety of ways. He is also the guy we go to when we need our defense to lock down our opponents best offensive player.

Jordan Adams seems to do it all on the court. He is a great leader who always keeps his composure. He is second in scoring, but leads our team in rebounds and steals.

Our big guys have also been playing very well. Starting with Darion Clark and AJ Hammons – Darion is a solid defender and consistent rebounder. AJ is one of the most complete big men in high school basketball this season. And our bench is also producing and bringing good minutes when they are called on. RJ Curington is a player who is averaging double figures.

Our coaches are very supportive, and they want to see us succeed. Our goal from the beginning of the year has been to finish the season as national champions. This is one of the reasons I decided to attend Oak Hill. I wanted to get better as a player and have an opportunity to achieve something very special – like having a championship ring on my finger.

We have the honor of playing for the greatest high school coach of all time. It was really cool to see Coach Smith in the Hall of Fame in Springfield this past weekend. I have so much respect for Coach Smith. Before I even decided to come to Oak Hill, I came to talk to Coach Smith, and he talked about all that he thought I could do to help our team be the best, and it has all come true.

It would be really be great to win another championship for Coach Smith. We have 16 more games and we plan to play every game like it is our national championship game. Here’s hoping – Oak Hill Warriors 2012 National Champs!!!

• Monday’s game vs Greensboro Dudley at Greensboro Coliseum has been changed to 5:30pm.

Your first ticket may be purchased for a $100 donation and each additional ticket purchased for your family or group will be $50. Participants will receive a reserved seat at the game, an autographed Oak Hill basketball media guide, an Oak Hill Academy t-shirt, and the opportunity to meet the team and coaches at a reception following the game! During the reception there will be photo opportunities with the players and a drawing for an autographed game ball.

Oak Hill defeated Jesuit (OR) 57-50, and Jordan Adams was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Special congratulations to Tyler Lewis who was crowned Tournament MVP.  Tyler also surpassed the 1,000 assist mark during Thursday’s semi-final matchup with Westview.  Tyler now has 1,000+ assists and has scored 2,500+ points during his high school career.
