Oak Hill Academy vs Providence Day

Players to Watch- Oak Hill Academy

Junior Matt Coleman

  • This young man is ranked as one of the top point guards in the nation for his class and is getting Division I looks from all around the country.  He has elite speed, controls the tempo, and certainly shows how complete he is knocking down open jumpers, while get to the rim and finish.  Complete guard and fun to watch.  He holds offers from Virginia Tech, Cincinnati, VCU, Virginia, Memphis, UConn, Texas, Indiana, and more.

Senior Braxton Key

  • Already committed to Alabama, this forward has a load of talent and really has developed his overall game.  He possesses the strength and length, while also showing a non-stop motor. He can be used in several sets on offense, whether it is down low or along the outside, this young man is a talent that you don’t want to miss.

Junior TyShon Alexander

  • This young man recently committed to Creighton and they are getting a good one.  Last year, he was learning the ropes at Oak Hill but now, he is a valuable option for Coach Smith.  He has worked on his perimeter game and could be their most consistent shooter.  He also can play multiple positions if needed as he is very versatile on the court.

Senior Mario Kegler

  • A t6’7, 218 pounds, this senior forward is a hoss down low in the paint and with Giles now out, becomes even bigger for Oak Hill.  He can not only get it done in the post but also take his game out to the perimeter to know down shots.  Programs like Maryland, Arizona State, LSU, and Mississippi State are showing the most interest.

Junior Devontae Shuler

  • Phenom has been high on this kid and believes this kid is a Top 20 caliber guy.  With him at Oak Hill, it gives them another elite type scorer on all levels of the floor.  He knows how to score the ball when it is in his hand and is one of the best players in his class.  Expect Shuler to continue to grow into his role and become a big-part for Oak Hill.

Senior Rodney Miller

  • The Miami kid is a 6’11 bruiser, coming in at 250 pounds.  With Giles out for the season, Miller will be a go to guy down low for Oak Hill, along with players like Khadim Sy, Mario Kegler, and others.

Junior Lindell Wigginton

  • Wigginton and Coleman could create one the best backcourts in the country at Oak Hill this season.  Wigginton has grown into a tough competitor and plays the game right.  He is very mature at the point guard position and he doesn’t hurt his team.  He is under control with the ball in his hands and can knock down the open shot.

Other Players to Watch:

Khadim Sy – Virginia Tech commit

Montez Mathis – To p25 player

Kenny Nwuba – 6’9 sophomore

Providence Day – Players to Watch

Senior Grant Williams

  • This young man has really grown as a player and is now getting the respect he deserves as a player.  He has a big frame, even though some may consider him undersized.  That doesn’t stop him from battling down low or hitting that outside shot in one’s face.  Williams will be making his college decision at the National Showcase.

Sophomore Devon Dotson

  • Dotson is an elite point guard and holds eight offers already.  Dotson had a huge summer and looks to continue that this season for Providence Day.  Dotson has an advanced level of skill  at his position.  He is a lockdown defender and plays well with the ball in his hands.  One of the better ball handlers in North Carolina.  He has been working on his shot and explosiveness this summer and should be a great matchup against Oak Hill’s point guards.

Senior Josh Howard

  • The son of Juwan Howard, this 6’6 senior is looking to have a fantastic year for Providence Day.  He holds an offer already from UMKC but a game like this, in front of a national audience, could really bring his recruitment rising.  This kid has the talent to do it.
