Oak Hill Academy trailed by as many as seven points in the third quarter, but used a 32-8 run to rally and score a 72-56 victory over Mountain Mission (Grundy, Va.) on Tuesday night.

The Warriors trailed 15-13 at the end of the first quarter. Khadim Sy scored four points for the Warriors in the frame, but Mountain Mission forward and West Virginia University signee Maciej Bender scored seven of his team's 15 to help the Challengers get out to the slim lead.

Both teams went back and forth at each other in the second quarter, but it would be Mountain Mission that held on to the lead throughout the period. A three-pointer from Oak Hill junior Ty'Shon Alexander and a free throw from Lindell Wigginton tied the score at 17-17 before Bender scored on two straight trips and Mountain Mission senior Jakub Mijakowski added a basket to give the Challengers a 23-17 advantage.

The Warriors got a couple of late baskets from Wigginton and Rodney Miller but still trailed by two at the half 25-23.

Mountain Mission came out with renewed energy in the third quarter and built its lead up to as much as seven points at 35-28 that included a jumper from Bender and two three-point shots from senior point guard Keshon Montague.

After that, the Warriors finally caught fire from the field. Wigginton nailed a three and Sy finished a strong layup under the basket and was fouled. The free throw brought the Warriors back to within one point. Wigginton added a pair of free throws to give Oak Hill its first lead since the first quarter at 36-35.

Bender put the Challengers back in front with a jumper, but it was all Warriors after that. Oak Hill outscored the visiting team, 15-2, to close the quarter and take a 51-40 lead to the half. Wigginton kept his hot hand going with six points to close the third. 

The Warriors started the fourth on a 16-1 run to put the game away. Wigginton nailed a trio of three-pointers, junior point guard Matt Coleman slammed a dunk home and added two free throws during that scoring run.

Wigginton finished the game to lead all scorers with 25 points. Shuler finished with 16, Key added nine, Sy finished with nine points and eight rebounds and Coleman chipped in eight points.

Bender led Mountain Mission with 18 points.

Oak Hill is now 5-1 overall while Mountain Mission fell to 6-2.

The Warriors get back on the floor on Thursday at home against Handle It Prep while Mountain Mission heads to Kentucky to face Wesley Christian on Thursday.
